How to Apply Baseball Iron On Patch
- Pre-heat your iron or heat-press for five minutes on high. Do NOT use Steam.
- Place your baseball jersey flat on the surface of the ironing board (Leave no space for wrinkles or creases).
- Iron the area of the jersey where you want to apply the patch. Do this for 25 seconds at least.
- Place the patch on the ironed area of the jersey.
- Now, place a cloth over the patch and gently iron it for 25 to 45 seconds.
- Turn the garment inside out, and iron the backside of the patch for 45-60 seconds.
- Lastly, remove the cloth and turn the jersey right side out.
NOTE: Refer to the below section for baseball patch placement. For care instructions, check the label of your garment.
Baseball Patch Placement
- Place the patch 3″ below the left shoulder seam on a raglan sleeve.
- Place the patch 1″ below the left shoulder seam on a set-in sleeve.
- For sleeveless shirts, place the patch over the left chest area.
- The umpire patch goes 4″ below the left shoulder seam of the set-in sleeve.

Sizes range from 4” to 5”. At Elegant Patches, you can either borrow one of our design presets, or go completely custom on your baseball patch project. To decide on a patch's size, use this formula to get precise measurements for your patch: height + width / 2.
Baseball patches are sported by baseball leagues, organizations, private schools, and businesses.
You can apply it on the center of the left shoulder, and if you’re rocking a sleeveless jersey, apply it on the left chest. And if it is an umpire patch, it should be worn 4” below the left-side shoulder.
You can apply patches to jerseys in four easy steps. Firstly, make sure that your garment is freshly laundered. Secondly, Iron the area of the garment with a cotton setting. Thirdly, place the patch on the garment, and on top of it place a cloth. Lastly, apply heat on top of the cloth for 20-30 seconds, and let it cool. It’s done.
